Buk is not a young Ferengi, but it would be unkind to describe him as old. He has only a few wrinkles on his salmon-coloured face, and his eyes still sparkle with the wish to live life to its fullest.
In some ways, he differs from the stereotypes usually assigned to his species. He is a hard-working man, and has risen to the position of Ambassador more through true merit than through deceit. Well, there had been a bit of deceit, of course. . . A Ferengi must uphold his principles, as Buk says.

Dolan is an ageing man, though not yet elderly, nostalgic for the days of greater Cardassian glory, and hoping to help restore them.
He once assisted Starfleet in uncovering a traitor in their midst, as a gesture of good will, and has a fairly good working relationship with the crew of Delta One.
