USS Atlantis Status Report
2007

It's been a busy year for the crew of the Atlantis. We've had missions our characters won't soon forget, but also character development, shocking revelations and humorous incidents. We've had players returning and players leaving us, we had ups and down, explosions, phaser fights, mind control, aliens obsessed with truth, issues with the Prime Directive, First Contact, and a brutal war which turned out to be an illusion. We went boldly where none went before, and if someone did go there before, we went there bolder than they did.

All in all, a typical year for the Atlantis and her crew.

Episode 8:
"Ring of Truth"

A world on the brink of achieving warp drive, the planet Acebi finds itself secretly visited by the crew of the USS Atlantis. An away team, disguised as members of the Acebi race, is sent down to to ascertain how far the Acebi people still have to go before they actually launch their first warp ship. Unfortunately, the away team's deceit is found out. The Acebi, who are obsessed with truth, see lying as the worst crime possible, and a ruthless group of law enforcers called the Adjudicators, is sent after the away team. In a situation where telling the truth means breaking the Prime Directive, the away team members have no choice but to lie... Even if it leads to their deaths.

Episode 9:
"Conundrum Continued"

Twenty-five years ago, the Satarrans managed to trick the entire crew of the USS Enterprise-D into thinking they were at war with a species called the Lysians. Their plot was foiled before any real harm was done, but now, twenty-five years later, the Satarrans are at it again. Having enlisted the help of Dobin, a Ullian telepath, the Satarrans have altered the memories of the crew of the USS Birnam. The Atlantis manages to intervene before the Birnam reaches Lysian space, but the Satarrans don't give up that easily; Dobin unleashes his telepathic abilities on the Atlantis crew as well. With the Atlantis crew now convinced that the Lysian Central Command must be destroyed in order to stop a terrible war that has devastated the Federation, it seems inevitable that the Atlantis' mission will end in bloodshed and, quite possibly, genocide.

Episode 10:
"Shell Game"

The newly established Federation colony Tui Malila: one of the most beautiful worlds in the known galaxy, and home to 421 colonists, who plan to preserve the beauty of the planet's nature at all costs. Unfortunately, the planet is not only rich in beauty, but in precious minerals as well, and a mining consortium has taken it upon themselves to extract those minerals by draining an area of wetlands and thereby damaging the planet's fragile eco-system. The colonists will not stand for it, but the miners refuse to leave. It is a dispute that will not be easily solved: a challenge for Ambassador Von Klinkerhoffen and the crew of the USS Atlantis.

Legend:
Post = Number of players who posted at least once in a specific month.
NonP = Number of players who didn't post in that month.
Tot. = Number of players on the Atlantis in that month.
PC = Number of PC posts that month.
S/NPC= Number of SPC or NPC posts that month.
JP = Number of joint posts that month.
Avrg.= Average per player per month. What this means is that, for instance, in January 2007, the average Atlantis player posted an average of 3.08 posts.

What these stats show is that we had an average of 12.2 players each month (opposed to 14.8 last year). Of those 12.2 players in this hypothetical, average month, 3.3 players didn't post (in 2006, that number was 2.67). The average player in the average month posted 3.01 posts (4.54 in 2006). The average month had 21.3 PC posts (in 2006: 31.6), 15.3 S/NPC posts (in 2006: 35.8), 0.3 joint posts and a total of 36.08 posts, whereas the average month in 2006 brought the Atlantis 67 posts.

We had 433 posts in 2007, almost half of what we had in 2006. Out of the 21 players who have been on the Atlantis for at least a month, only four of them had an average of higher than 4 posts a month. But these are all just numbers. Although we didn't do as well as previous years, we certainly managed to write quite a few good posts, and I believe that is something to be proud of. As long as you're having fun here, it's all right with me.

Best regards,
Ben,
playing FO Velden.
