(|CMO Charles Patrick Ryan|)
(USS Atlantis - Sickbay - 2391.03.08, 1618)

Ryan sat at his desk, his mind whirling. The counselors had been wrong. The memories remained there, directly in front of his eyes. The looks of death of those around him as he desperately worked to save the lives on a dying ship. The eyes were the telling moment in someone's end. The blank look shook the doctor to his very soul and even now the look came back to him in moments of silence, as if to taunt him.

It was the nightmares he would endure and a burden he would be forced to carry, until they faded away enough to move on. But now, he had rushed out of the captain's ready room, rushed into his office, looking for a place of safety. And he had found it. His heart rate began to slow, his breathing coming under control once more. He heard a knock and jumped slightly in his chair.

"Is there.... anything the matter, Doctor?" Ryan looked up to find the beautiful Assistant Chief Medical Officer leaning into the room, looking concerned. His mind reached back again to the Jarabont and his Assistant Chief. She had been young as well. She had gone into a coma in the midst of surgery on the ship and hadn't come out for several weeks. He had made every effort to stay at her beside. Between the surgeries, the physical therapy, he found his sleeping hours in her room.

She had remained in a coma until his posting to the Atlantis. And there had been no word since. He still held onto hope for the young woman. She had been the best officer he'd had in a long line of failures. He shook the memory once more and looked to her.

"Erm...nothing really Ms. Boudrelli, just old memories from an old man...nothing to worry much about." The faces of the dead flashed back for a moment, sending a start through the doctor for but a moment. He turned his attention to the PADD's on his desk.

"How are we for status? DS9 will have a list from us of stuff we may need...?"

(USS Atlantis - Sickbay- 2391.03.17, 1351)

Doctor Charles Patrick Ryan sat in his wheelchair in the middle of sickbay as officers quickly finished up sorting the equipment that had come in from the station. They had little idea of what they were in for, and it still bothered the doctor in the back part of his mind. Something felt odd, but for Ryan, most things concerned him, even it was seamless. Seamless was a disaster waiting to happen. He shook that last thought, knowing it would lead to the Jarabont and then the images would return. He didn't need that right now.

"Sir, we're heading into the wormhole..." Ryan smirked. "Oh what fun this will be. Nobody get sick, I just cleaned the place..." He moved to a monitor and pulled up the main view screen. It was a sight to see. Something that always fascinated the doctor was the science of the things. It almost had the feeling of a creature, as human as himself. But that was an illusion. A few moments later they were through and done. Ryan adjusted himself in his chair.

"Well, I suppose we get ready for this mission o' fun. Computer, put sickbay to yellow alert. All medical officers to standby stations. Assistant Chief Boudrelli to sickbay, we're getting this crazy thing under way. Ryan out..."

He turned his attention to the monitor. A few ships were waiting for them. Now, it had begun.
