Starfleet Academy

 [ Main - Personnel - Decks - Story - Other ]

 » LCARS » Cadets guide

(|Introduction|)
New players in Frontier Fleet are trained at the Academy. They learn our basic postingstyle, the way to handle replies and how to post in a group.
For this purpose all players take the role of Cadets at Starfleet Academy. They play characters who want to become Starfleet Officers.

(|Playable races|)
At the Academy no enemies to the Federation can be trained, so Borg or Hirogen can't be played in the Academy. You can have a look in the Xenology part of our LCARS and see if a race is playable. Races marked "With approval" can be accepted into the Academy when the character has a plausible background in his/her bio. (See the Biography Guide for more information.)

(|Academy Setup|)
This Academy setup has proven to work out very good:

Stage #0
1. Person visits the website; fills in the join form and submits.
2. Academy Commandant decides whether to accept or to reject the application.
3. When accepting the Academy Commandant the player a mail in which he/she asks the Cadet to write a report-in post and send it to acadcm@frontierfleet.com.

Stage #1 (Individual training)
4. Upon receiving this post, the Academy Commandant writes a post back in which the Cadet is being assigned to an Individual Instructor and gives the cadet the email address of his instructor. He warns the Instructor that he/she has a new Cadet with the email address of the Cadet.
5. The Cadet and Instructor start posting together. Towards the end of this individual training the Instructor also takes a look to the Cadet's Biography and makes sure it is a correct one. After the Instructor finds the Cadet's posting correct according to Star Trek Frontier Fleet's posting format, he sends the Academy Commandant a notification.

Stage #2 (Advanced training on the list)
6. The Academy Commandant subscribes the Cadet (now a 3rd-year cadet) to the traininglist ( SFAcademy@frontierfleet.com ) and informs the instructors on this list. The list instructors check the Cadet's bio and give the Cadets a short group-training in form of a mission.
7. The traininglist's Instructors decide that the Cadet's posting is still okay and that he knows how to post in a group. They contact the Academy Commandant to graduate the Cadet and assign the fresh Ensign to one of our dutystations.

- Note that a Cadet can skip Stage 1, 2 or both in some cases, if he/she is ready for it.
- Currently the third stage is not being used, due to the amount of cadets and time available.

(|Biography|)
The biography should be a document that gives you an idea of the character. Cadets can only enter the Academy at the age they are seen as an adult (18 for Humans).
Certain things are forbidden, like superpowers. Also faults in grammar and spelling are to be corrected. (see Biography Guide)
