In Star Trek Frontierfleet, when you create a character, you can (and probably will) use a biography. However, creating a biography, and your character, can take time, and lots can go wrong. So, to help you with creating your character, here are the do's and don't's:
Important: Avoid the 'superhero syndrome'. We'd like realistic characters, who have their own qualities and flaws. And besides, playing a 2m50 tall Klingon/Romulan who can snap an enemies neck just by touching it with his finger, will just get boring after some time. So, just stick to realistic characters.
And one other thing, before we go to the guide: make sure there are no spelling mistakes: it should be easy to read, and it's not with lots of spelling mistakes.
Goodluck in creating your bio, and your character!
Character Information
Name: Well, this is obvious of course. Fill in your character's name here.
Age: The minimum age to enter the Academy is 18 years (or the equivalent of 18 human years), in the ST universe. Your character will take 4 years to complete the academy (at least), so the minimum age ingame would be 22 years old. Still, it might be a wise idea to play someone who is older: a 22 year old ensign is great, but the promotions happen quickly (ingame), so before you know it, you could be a 23 year old CO!
Race: Your character can only a race which is a member of the Federation. (unless you have a valid reason why that race would be allowed to enter the Academy). Also, avoid superpowers, like Q, a godlike race, shapeshifters, a superstrong race, etc. It's just no fun if there is a character who can just solve a mission with the snap of his fingers. Nobody else would get to do anything then. Also, try to watch out with hybrids: a Vulcan/Andorian hybrid is a bit unlikely, and so is a Klingon/Betazoid. I'm not saying it's impossible... but just try to avoid it, unless you again have a valid reason.
Eye-colour: This is also obvious: what eye-colour does your character have?
Hair-colour: What colour of hair? Brown, black, blond, red, grey with a touch of blue? It's all possible.
Skin-colour: The colour of your character's skin. Green, blue, black, white, red.. of course, this depends on what race you're playing.
Height: Make this realistic. Being 8 feet tall is a bit too tall, of course.
Weight: How heavy is your character? 20 kg is probably too light of course, but 600 kg is maybe too heavy. Of course, this also depends on the race.
Physical Apparence
In this part of the bio, you can list how your character looks. Does your character look attractive, or not? Is he,she, it, or s/he a person which isn't noticed a lot? How does your character look when he simply walks through the corridor? (Full of pride, sadness, or curiosity). And of course, you could just describe how your character looks.
Don't: Don't make your character too muscular looking, too attractive, etc. It's just not realistic.
History
In this part of the biography, you'll be able to create a history for your character. Be creative: not every character has to have a Starfleet Admiral as a father, and a Klingon Captain as a mother. (Actually, we'd rather not have that: It's not realistic.) When you're making your history, keep in mind the (canon!) events that have happened from when your character was born, until 2391. (The Dominion war, the ending of it, etc.) As I said, be creative in thinking up your character's history. (while not adding anything to the game that would have a major impact.)
Maybe your character's parents were defectors in the Dominion war... maybe they weren't even in the Dominion war, because your character's parents lived on a colony far away. Maybe your character had an accident when he, she, it, or s/he was 10, and lost the use of his/her/it's/hir legs. There are countless possibilities to create. Just be creative.
Don't: Make sure your character isn't unrealistic: things like being born on the Klingon homeworld, raised by Klingon parents, and accepted into the Klingon military, etc. Such a person would not want to join Starfleet, unless he has a very good reason.
Psychological Profile
In your character's psychological profile, you should write down how he, she, it, or s/he acts, normally. Is your character a quiet type, can he, she, it or s/he cope well (or not) with stress, or is your character a bit more... insane? ;-) Again, use your creativity. In this part, you'll be able to tell us (and yourself maybe) how your character will respond. Make sure the description is understandable, and tells us something about your character.
Don't: Things like coping extremely well with stress, a highly disciplined mind, or 'reacting to everything without failure' is completely unrealistic. So keep it out of your characters!
Specialties and Skills
Here, you can write down what specialities and skills your character has. Is your character good at remembering things? Write it down here! Is Science your character's interest, and can he, she, it, or s/he do that better than other things? Put it here.
Don't: A character with only things he, she, it, or s/he is good at, is no fun to look at, or to play. So don't do that. Instead, also think of some things your character is bad at. (things like piloting a shuttle for example.)
Hobbies
Your character should have some hobbies. Those can be put down here. Is your character good at sailing, springball, or does he, she, it, or s/he likes sitting down on the couch, being lazy? Write it here! Again, make sure it's realistic.
Don't: Don't let your character be good at everything. (good in ALL sports, etc.) That's just no fun.
Notes
Here, you can put down anything you want your fellow players to know. For example, you could say that you are really looking forward to playing this character, or you could say that some things about your character could be seen as not being too kind, but that you don't mean it that way. Anything you want to say, you can say it here.
This is one part of the bio that you don't necessarily have to fill.
