During the Dominion War Starfleet takes over the former civilian space station Pandora Station, and upgrades the station's defensive systems. The docking area is transformed into a repair and refit facility for smaller classes of ships.

Exactly one month after the christening of the USS Calhoun (2390.05.05), Starfleet's first transwarp vessel, Vice Admiral Cussler of the Starfleet Engineering Department announced that a second ship will be equipped with a transwarp engine. This ship will be the USS Epimetheus, the second Prometheus class ship.
At 2390.06.07 the USS Epimetheus arrived at Pandora Station to be refitted with a transwarp engine. The multi vector assault mode of this Prometheus class ship will make the integration of the new engine an interesting challenge.

Lieutenant Commander Kroynian, XO on the USS Valkyrie, was reassigned to Pandora Station as First Officer. At the same time the Chief Counsellor of the Valkyrie and her husband (Athena and Antar Mishbano) were also transfered to Pandora Station.
Stardate 2390.10.04 - 2390.10.11
The USS Epimetheus has been in dry dock at Pandora Station for several months now, and construction is nearly completed. Admiral Cussler expects the ship will be ready in one or two months.
But not everyone is happy with the Epimetheus. Since the arrival of the Epimetheus, even without the transwarp drive one of the fastest Starfleet ships, security on the starbase has been increased. The owner of the restaurant "Quark's" at Pandora's Promenade deck complained: "All those hoo-man security types are keeping away my customers."
More unhappy news for the Ferengi restaurant owner is that Starfleet announced a few days later that the installation of a prototype of an Artificial Intelligence on Pandora Station had been completed, and that security measures would be increased to protect 'Virt', the AI.
