Once engineering has a chance to research the mechanical elements of the Borg, the process of removing internal implants can begin. Which will be appreciated by all, as the drones are certainly not getting any better on their own. The cause of the Borg's recent imperfection has still not been issolated, however it has been determined that this particular group of drones was part of an information gathering mission in the area. It is not certain whether or not it is directly related the Romulans also found in the area, but interrogation of the surviving Romulans may prove enlightening.   π
