Cestus III is an isolated and exposed Federation colony. Commodore Travers commanded the colony on Cestus III. Any ship is welcome to use the facilities at Cestus. The Gorn attacked and destroyed the colony on Cestus III on Stardate 3044. The Gorn approached the colony as if it were intending to use the facilities. They took out the colony's phaser banks on their first salvo. The colony was equipped with grenade launchers that could be used from the ground. The colonists tried to surrender, because there were women and children living there, but there was no response. Lieutenant Harold was the only survivor of the attack. It was later discovered that Cestus III was unknowingly built in Gorn space. The Gorn believed them to be invaders, so they destroyed the colony. (TOS: Arena)

 | Coridan | |

|

There is a Federation dilithium mine on the planet Coridan. (DS9: One Little Ship)
The planet Coridan had a population of 3 billion in 2151. The Vulcans had a mining agreement with them in the mid 22nd century. The government was led by a chancellor in the mid 22nd century. Coridan has the largest starship construction yards in the sector. Their ships have reached warp 7, at the time the Vulcans were limited to 6.5 and Earth to warp 5. They also used fixed wing aircraft in the mid 22nd century. In the mid 22nd century, Coridan was undergoing a period of unrest. The government claimed the rebels were a small, radical faction, while the rebels claimed that the government was kept in power by the Vulcans. The Andorians allied themselves with the rebels. An Andorian presence on Coridan is a violation of the Tau Ceti Accords. Most of the population is concentrated in several cities in the equatorial region. The Capital is surrounded by a shantytown. There are almost as many bio signs outside the city as there are within it. (ENT: Shadows of P'jem)
