Welcome to Star Trek Frontier Fleet, a Play by e-mail RPG. In this document, you'll find all the important information regarding your privacy, what will happen to the posts you post, what information regarding your character will and will not be available to the general public, and so on.

An important thing to know, is that STFF is a Play by E-mail RPG. That means that the posts -the pieces you write from your character's point of view- will be sent and received via e-mail. To make sure that you don't have to send *all* the players in Frontier Fleet the same mail over and over again, we have created mailinglists. So, when you get assigned to one of our dutystations, you (your e-mail address) will be put on a number such mailinglists: the RPG mailinglist of your dutystation, the NRPG mailinglist of this dutystation, and most likely the Compiles list of this dutystation. Thus, you only have to send your e-mail to the mailinglist, and then that list will send it to all the people on that list.

This means, of course, that you have to have a valid e-mail address. Also, other players will be able to see your e-mail address, and you will be able to see those of the other players. This could mean that you might receive a mail from a fellow player from time to time. Yet, we've taken extra precautions that no spam-bots or spammers get access to our mailinglists.

Well, now that you know a bit about how the e-mailing works, let's continue with your own private information. STFF is not in the habit of sharing private information with third parties. Nevertheless, there will be some information that will appear on the site, for all to see. Your name, for instance. This will appear in your character's biography in the 'played by..' section. Everyone, including non-members, will be able to see this. Also, your name will appear in quotes which will be posted on the website. Also, your posts will be available to everyone, member and non-member alike, in our public archive.

There is of course other information which you might provide to us, such as your age, your date of birth, your hobbies, and so on. All of this information you can fill in whenever you want at the members section, and this information will only be seen by fellow members of ST Frontier Fleet.

Then we come to your character's information: naturally, to play this game, you need a character. You, and you alone, can update information about your character. Your character is yours alone, and nobody else's. The only things you won't be able to change about your character are his/her rank, and assignment.

While your character might be yours alone -nobody can use your character, nor can you use anyone else's characters-, there is one aspect of the game that everyone can use: the storyline. The posts which you post will be in your character's point of view. But that doesn't mean that others cannot use your posts: in fact, others will *have* to use your posts, and you will *have* to use other people's posts. Reacting on each other's posts is the *only* way to make the story progress, so it's absolutely vital that people read, and use each other's posts. (For more explanations about how to 'use' posts from someone else, please read the posting guide.)

We hope you enjoy ST Frontier Fleet. If you have questions, please ask us at council-at-frontierfleet-dot-net
