It is advised that your character *not* be closely related to high-ranking Starfleet officers (captain and above). Not that there would be anything inherently wrong with it, but you should be aware that a lot of players do it. Having your character be the son or niece (for example) of a captain, commodore or admiral is distinctly unoriginal. Your character will be working with characters who are also daughters of admirals and nephews of commodores. We're hoping to limit the number of such characters, for the sake of plausibility and originality.

The current year in the game is 2394. We receive an incredible number of bio applications in which the character's parents were killed at the battle of Wolf 359, or during the Dominion War. Again, for the sake of originality, please don't do this. In addition, be aware that the battle of Wolf 359 was in 2367. For your character to have been born before that, he or she would have to be at least 28 years old (if Human). The Dominion War took place from 2373 to 2375. For your character to have fought in the Dominion War, he or she must now be at least 43 years old (if Human).

Finally, remember that your character lives in the future, and that society in the 2390s is very different to any Earth society of the early 21st century. Earth, and other Federation planets, are part of an inter-planetary utopia. If your character comes from a member planet of the Federation, then he or she comes from a world where there is no poverty, no sickness, no crime, no selfishness, and no violence. He or she cannot have been brought up in poverty - or, for that matter, in a wealthy family, since there is no money in Federation societies. It is highly unlikely that your character comes from a broken family, and it is impossible for him or her to come from an abusive and violent family background. Frontier Fleet adheres closely to the guiding spirit of Star Trek, in which the Federation is a utopia.
