(|DNA analyzer|)
Invented by Doctor Bashir in 2372 as a way to detect Changeling infiltrators, the DNA analyzer slices off a small tissue sample of whatever limb is placed on its surface, and compares the obtained DNA with the records in a database which contains the DNA of every carbon based species which has their DNA on file at Starfleet Medical. A computer voice then states whether the subject is Human, Vulcan, etc, or whether the subject is, in fact, a Changeling. The DNA analyzer weighs fourteen kilos. Despite its initial success, Changeling infiltrators did find a way to bypass the analyzer, by using hidden skin samples from the ones they were replacing.
