(|Legendary Post, by Rob Verlinden.|)
For all readers who missed the monthly legendary post: It's back!!

This time I dusted off an amazing post by Adrian during the mission on Delta One in October 2002. A time-rift opened and a TOS-era ship appeared near the station. At the end of the mission the timline was distorted completely. Klingons, Cardassians, Kazon and Romulans appeared and attacked Delta One. As an ending for the plot Adrian just blew up Delta One, suggesting these events never took place.

Subject: CO Jennifer Su

(Delta One - Bridge - 2390.11.28, 1457)

"We have shields," someone put in suddenly.

Jennifer turned to face the officer who had spoken. She had to wipe the tears from her eyes before she could see him.
"Transfer all available power to the shields," she said grimly. "Target the most aggressive Cardassian ship. Disable its weapons and defences. . ."

"Yes, Ma'am. . . The Romulans are hailing us!"

"Put them onscreen!" she ordered.

The two Romulan officers appeared once more before her. This time, however, there was smoke drifting in front of them, and frantic voices could be heard in the background.

"Tell your starship to cease fire!" the Romulan woman snapped. For her to raise her voice, she truly had to be desperate, Jennifer thought. . .

"Not until you do," the young Captain retorted firmly. Behind her, a console in a wall erupted with a shower of sparks. Fortunately, no one had been working at it. . .

The Romulan leaned forward, her lips twisting into a snarl. "The Cardassians. . . refuse. . . to LISTEN! You must show a gesture of goodwill!"

Jennifer gave a sad smile.
"Oh, please. Don't underestimate me THAT much. It's insulting."

A flicker of panic flashed through the Romulan's eyes, replaced almost immediately with grim resolution. "I assure you, Captain, this time I'm not trying to deceive you. I will listen to what you have to say. But if I betray my allies- "

On the bridge of the Romulan ship, someone screamed. An explosion of flames and debris slammed into the two officers from one side, knocking them down. The transmission was filled with static. . . then ended abruptly.

=^= Harris to Delta One! Status of the Gagarin, Klingons and whatever else the hell is out there! =^=

"They'll be towed towards the rift soon, with all crew on board. . . I hope." A nod from Ensign Azyian confirmed that. "And it looks as though you've knocked the Romulans out of the fight. . . How is the Calhoun doing?"

(reply Harris)

At that point, another hail interrupted them, and the viewscreen displayed the inside of Hart's shuttle. "Captain," Chris stated, "we are on our way to the Klingon ship. We will attempt to sling shot it into the fissure. . ." She just looked at the carnage around the Captain.

Jennifer swallowed hard. How could she explain to Chris. . .

She looked into her eyes, and knew that she had understood.

"The Calhoun and us will keep the Cardassians off your backs," was what she actually said. "And we'll keep a transporter lock on you. Just. . . in case. . ."

"Understood Captain. We might need one of those fresh Kazon ships to defend us."

"I'm sure they'll do all they can to help." She paused. Then she managed to get the words out. "Dawn is dead. I'm. . . sorry. She had a warrior's death."

"Aye Captain," Chris said sadly.

Jenny nodded, her pain all too visible in her eyes, then the transmission was ended.

"Commander?" she called after a second or so.

(reply Harris)

"If the station is destroyed, I want you to get out of here. Don't stay around to avenge us, is that clear? Jump to transwarp, go to Earth, or maybe to Talax, but stay alive. And tell Starfleet what happened here."

(reply Harris)

"That's an order," she said, but there was no anger in her voice. Weariness, maybe. Sadness. Pride in her crew. That, and a few other feelings, seeming so faint, so distant now. . . "If we die, I want to know you're going to carry out my last order."

(reply Harris)

"Engineering! How are we doing transferring emergency power to those shiel-"Shields are down!" Azyian shouted.

Jennifer looked up, straight at the viewscreen, and straight at half a dozen torpedoes racing through space, straight towards Delta One.

She straightened, and fought down the hideous feeling of fear and hatred boiling up within her. Her crew was going to die. Her baby, her tiny, defenceless baby. . .

"You've been a fine crew," she choked out, putting her hand on her stomach as though in a last, futile gesture of love and comfort. "HeglumeH Qaq jaj-"

Delta One exploded, a massive detonation of fire, light and burning debris, spraying molten metal and vaporised matter all around. For a brief second, the void which had been a space station burned bright, then the cold emptiness settled once more, and nothing remained but drifting scraps of hull, charred parts and pieces of corpses. . .

Nearby, the creature rift closed, and disappeared.
