(|USS Valkyrie Status Report October 2005, by Rick Clogston.|)
(USS Valkyrie - CSO's Log - 2392.04.25, 1625)

A subspace rift opened briefly in the Captain's quarters, and Commander Maiek has disappeared. Science has begun wide-spectrum scans, and has discovered hundreds of very small subspace fluctuations in general proximity to the Valkyrie.

Petty Officer B'ahb and I joined two security crewmen in the Captain's quarters. We scanned the room with tricorders and internal sensors, and even set up pattern enhancers to see if any transporter signature residue could be found, and came up with nothing new. I recommended to the Second Officer, who is now in command on the bridge, and the new ACEO, a Mister Finlay, that the following precautions be taken.

First, that probes be prepared in case of more sub-space rifts. Commander Byrne recommended class 5 probes, and ordered them to be prepared. Second, that Engineering shield the dilithium matrix against metreon radiation, which is a common result of subspace anomalies. And third, that the deflector dish be reconfigured to emit anti-leptons, which could be useful in disrupting any potential attack through subspace.

Ensign Anita Alvarez is currently leading the analysis of the data from the Captain's quarters, and from the ship's external sensors.
