History |
The Cordian planets are located in the Beta Quadrant and are members of the Federation. The planet is rich in dilithium crystals.
The planet Coridan had a population of 3 billion in 2151. Most of the population is concentrated in several cities in the equatorial region. The capital city was surrounded by a shantytown, and there were almost as many bio-signs outside the city as there were within it.
They had a mining agreement with the Vulcans in the mid 22nd century. The Vulcans had been visiting the Coridians for decades prior to this time.
In 2151, Coridan rebels took Captain Archer and Subcommander T'pol hostage. The Andorians, who were aiding the rebels helped Archer and T'pol escape.
The Babel Conference in 2267 was to consider their admission into the United Federation of Planets. At that time, the planet was susceptible to illegal mining operations, which was a concern that led some to think they should be denied Federation membership. Ambassador Sarek of Vulcan spoke in favor of admittance, and was given credit for passage of the measure. Coridan joined the Federation that same year.
A centuries long civil war decimated the Coridan population. The current population of Coridan is 185 million, down from 3 billion in the mid 22nd century. |
Society |
The Coridan government's offical name is the People's Republic of Coridan. In 2151, the government was led by a chancellor.
According to rebels, the government of Coridan in the mid 22nd century was kept in power by the Vulcans. The Coridan government claimed that the rebels were a small group. |
Technology |
The Coridans have the largest starship construction yards in the sector. They became warp capable in 2093. Their ships reached warp 7 by 2151, at this same period of time Vulcans had only reached warp 6.5, and Earth warp 5.
The Coridans use fixed wing aircraft. |
Notes |
| An Andorian presence on Coridan is a violation of the Tau ceti Accords. |
